Position Summary

The Early Childhood Education Faculty member provides instruction, academic advising, and curriculum development support for the Early Childhood Education program at the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University. This position teaches classroom and practicum courses, supports student success through academic advising, and contributes to program development while promoting Ojibwe language, culture, and educational values. This grant-funded position also plays an important role in recruiting and supporting future early childhood educators throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Early Childhood Education courses and support student learning through classroom and practicum instruction
  • Provide academic advising, degree planning, and ongoing student support
  • Recruit and retain students through partnerships with local daycares, Head Start programs, and elementary schools
  • Develop, review, and improve curriculum, course materials, and instructional practices
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain attendance, grading, assessment, and reporting records
  • Coordinate and supervise student research, activities, and practicum experiences when applicable
  • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, graduation, community engagement, and University events
  • Support Ojibwe language initiatives and help prepare for careers in education and immersion teaching

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in Education or a related instructional field
  • Wisconsin Educator License (Tier II-4), eligibility for Wisconsin licensure, or equivalent our-of-state licensure
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of instructional methods, curriculum development, and student assessment
  • Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms
  • Ability to work collaboratively while supporting diverse student populations and Tribal communities
