We, the Anishinabeg, the people of Odaawaa-Zaaga’iganiing, the Lac Courte Oreilles Band, will sustain our heritage, preserving our past, strengthening our present, and embracing our future. We will defend our inherent sovereign rights and safeguard Mother Earth. We will provide for the educational, health, social welfare, and economic stability of the present and future generations.

WHAT IS MEDICATION ASSISTED THERAPY (MAT)?

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medications in a combination with counseling and behavioral therapies for the treatment of substance use disorder. MAT program is a whole-person approach that provides effective treatment for substance use disorder. Our MAT care team includes, MAT provider, primary care provider, care coordinator, substance use counselor, and behavioral health therapist. 

GETTING STARTED / HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Develop a treatment plan that is individualized for you.

NO STIGMA, NO JUDGEMENT

  • Follow through with individualized treatment plan.
  • Family is encouraged to be a part of the program and will be offered meetings and education.

MEDICATION ASSISTANCE

Program referrals may include LCO CCS, LCO Voc Rehab, LCO Mental Health, Spiritual Advisors, nutrition educators, parenting, etc. in addition to the Substance Use Counselor

Opioid use changes a part of the brain that is involved with basic functioning. Some can’t get past the need for the drug to process information to help them reach a state of abstinence (not using)

  • The medications stabilize the withdrawals and enables the patient to benefit from counseling.
  • The goal will always be to aid the patient in operating at their best without the use of substances.
  • During this time the effort is for the patient to increase their "recovery capital".
  • Personal recovery capital is the individual's clothing, food, shelter, income, health.
  • Family or Social recovery capital include intimate relationships with family and friends.
  • Community Recovery Capital include resources in the community and accessibility and acceptance in the recovery community.
  • Cultural Capital are resources that enable the person to identify and be proud of their culture.

CULTURAL COMPONENT

  • Cultural history through Ojibwe Tribal elders, and spiritual people
  • 7 Sacred Teachings (love, courage, respect, honesty, wisdom, humility, and truth).
  • Learn to heal within the community through ceremonies and cultural events.
  • All spiritual choices are welcome, no one will be discriminated.

RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE AND THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE!
