Position Summary

The Benefits Office Assistant supports the administration of employee benefit programs for the LCO Tribal Government, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and 401(k) plans. This position assists with benefit enrollment, billing reconciliation, record-keeping, compliance activities, and employee communication while maintaining strict confidentiality and ensuring accurate administration of benefit program

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with administration of health, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) benefit programs
  • Prepare monthly billings, reconcile carrier invoices, and track employee benefit arrears
  • Support weekly 401(k) processing, annual audits, compliance testing, and census reporting requirements
  • Coordinate  benefit enrollment and changes for new and existing employees
  • Maintain benefit databases, employee records, enrollment forms, and confidential files
  • Assist with quarterly Insurance Committee and 401(k) Committee meetings and related documentation
  • Distribute benefit information and provide assistance to employees regarding avilable benefit programs
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements and applicable federal and state benefit regulations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Benefits Administration, Business, Accounting, or a related field
  • Two to four years of experience administering employee benefit plans
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and database applications
  • Additional training and coursework in benefits administration preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
