Position Summary

The Director of Finance serves as the University’s chief financial leader and is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the institution in support of its academic mission an strategic goals. Reporting directly to the President and serving on the Executive Council, this position oversees budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, procurement, audits, and long-term financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all University financial operations, budgeting, accounting, and reporting functions
  • Develop and administer business and fiscal policies that support institutional goals
  • Coordinate annual budgeting processes and provide leadership for financial planning initiatives
  • Supervise Business Office staff, including the Lead Accountant, Staff Accountant, and Grants Compliance Administrator
  • Manage audits, purchasing functions, banking relationships, internal controls, and compliance activities
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to the President and Board of Regents
  • Support long-range financial planning, forecasting, and institutional growth initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting,, or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible senior management or higher education experience
  • Knowledge of fund accounting and financial analysis
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and financial management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing budgets, audits, forecasting, and organizational financial operations
