Child Support Specialist
*Tribal preference will apply to qualified applicants in accordance with the Lac Courte Oreilles Policies & Procedures Manual, consistent with federal Indian preference requirements.
The Child Support Specialist provides comprehensive child support services through case management, investigations, interviews, collections, and legal support activities. This position works closely with custodial and noncustodial parents to establish, enforce, and monitor child support obligations in accordance with Tribal and federal regulations.
- Interview applicants and manage child support cases from intake through resolution
- Establish paternity, child support orders, and income withholding orders
- Investigate income sources and negotiate repayment
- Maintain case files, documentation, records, and required reports
- Assist attorneys with court preparation, hearings, and legal proceedings
- Track payments, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with federal regulations
- Education or equivalent experience in Human Services, Corrections Science, Paralegal Studies, or a related field
- Case management experience preferred, with two years of related experience desired
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to interpret legal documents and conduct investigations
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Must be bondable and able to pass a background check and drug screening
