Position Summary

The Culture Coordinator leads efforts to integrate Ojibwe language, traditions, and cultural values throughout Club programming. This position works closely with youth, Elders, staff, schools, and community partners to create culturally meaningful experiences that strengthen identity, leadership, self-confidence, and connections to the Lac Courte Oreilles community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate culturally grounded youth programming, including traditional arts, storytelling, language learning, and seasonal activities
  • Collaborate with Elders and community knowledge keepers to ensure authenticity and respect for Tribal traditions
  • Integrate cultural teachings and values into daily youth development activities and events
  • Support cultural competency development training for Club staff
  • Build partnerships with local schools, Tribal programs, and community organizations
  • Monitor program outcomes and evaluate youth growth in cultural knowledge, leadership, and self-identity
  • Assist with grant reporting, documentation, and cultural programming initiatives
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model while supporting Youth Development Professional programming as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Cultural Studies, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience working with Native youth in educational or recreational settings
  • Deep knowledge of Ojibwe language, culture, history, and traditions
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience planning and facilitating youth programs, events, or cultural activities
  • Ability to collaborate with Elders, Tribal departments, schools, and community organizations
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
