Lead Teacher – Child Care Center

The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and directing developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children from birth through age twelve. This position works closely with families, educational service providers, and community partners to support each child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and intellectual development. The Lead Teacher plays a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and culturally responsive classroom environment while ensuring compliance with DCF 251 standards and Tribal child care policies.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and classroom activities that support child development
- Guide implementation of a comprehensive child development program using Creative Curriculum standards
- Maintain accurate child records, assessments, and developmental documentation
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities while maintaining a safe learning environment
- Organize classroom materials, learning spaces, and educational resources
- Collaborate with families, staff, and community partners to support each child’s learning goals
- Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development activities and annual planning requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of child and family information and serve as a positive role model within the program and community
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- CDA certification required
- Current Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and SBS/SIDS training certification required
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and health examination requirements, including tuberculosis testing
- Experience working with preschool-aged children and knowledge of age-appropriate child development and safety practices
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds throughout the workday
- Strong communication, organization, and basic computer skills
