Position Summary

The Life & Workforce Readiness Assistant helps teens prepare for future careers, education, and leadership opportunities. This position delivers workforce readiness programming that combines practical job skills, career exploration, and leadership development with Anishinaabe values, culture identity, and community responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with workforce readiness and life skills programming for youth ages 14-21
  • Facilitate workshops on resumes, interviewing, communication, teamwork, leadership, financial literacy, and career exploration
  • Support youth in setting personal, academic, and career goals
  • Build positive mentoring relationships and provide individualized support to youth
  • Coordinate job shadowing opportunities, internships, field trips, guest speakers, and workforce experiences
  • Collaborate with schools, Tribal departments, employers, and community organizations
  • Maintain attendance records, activity logs, grant documentation, and program outcomes data
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, culturally responsive environment for all youth

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college coursework, vocational training, or related certifications preferred
  • Experience with youth in educational, Tribal, workforce development, or mentoring settings preferred
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
