Position Summary

The Elementary Special Education Teacher provides specially designed instruction and support services to students with disabilities in elementary grades. This position is responsible for IEP development and implementation, progress monitoring, assessment support, service coordination, and collaboration with staff and families to ensure student success. The role also incorporates Ojibwe culture and language into educational programming and student learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct special education instruction and services to students across disability categories
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs using a data-driven approach
  • Lead IEP meetings and coordinate special education services for assigned students
  • Administer assessments and assist with evaluation and eligibility processes
  • Collaborate with regular education staff, families, and related service providers
  • Implement behavioral supports and evidence-based interventions
  • Participate in school events, activities, and cultural programs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Wisconsin Special Education teaching certification or provisional licensure
  • Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and formal assessments
  • Experience working with Native American youth preferred
  • Ability yo collaborate effectively ith staff, families, and service providers
  • Experience using educational technology and student information systems
  • Must support the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the school
