Position Summary

The Culture/Ojibwemowin Teacher provides instruction in Ojibwe language, culture, and traditions for students. This position supports cultural education throughout the school while helping integrate Anishinaabe teachings into classroom learning and school activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach Ojibwe language and culture curriculum
  • Assist teachers with incorporating Ojibwe culture into classroom instruction
  • Maintain attendance, grades, reports, and student records
  • Support cultural activities, feasts, ceremonies, powwows, and workshops
  • Work with students, fmilies, and taff to promote cultural and engagement
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and assigned supervisory duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge and experience in Ojibwe culture and traditions
  • Prior experience teaching or working with Native American youth preferred
  • Willingness to pursue Wisconsin Language/History/Culture Lucensure (925/926)
  • Must support the mission and philosophy of the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School
