Position Summary

The Domestic Violence Advocate provides trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, and housing stabilization services to individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. This position works to enhance survivor safety, reduce isolation, support emotional healing, and help individuals and families achieve stable housing while breaking the cycle of violence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intakes and assess safety, physical, emotional, and housing needs
  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, advocacy referrals, and safety planning services
  • Assist survivors with emergency shelter placement and housing stabilization planning
  • Support survivors in locating and securing safe housing, including assistance with applications, waitlists, and landlord coordination
  • Facilitate healing-focused support groups and provide transportation services when needed
  • Maintain accurate, objective, and confidential client records, documentation, and reports
  • Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and referral agencies to support client needs
  • Follow agency policies, confidentiality requirements, mandatory reporting laws, and safety proccedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with experience working with victims of violence
  • Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence and its impacts on individuals and families
  • Understanding of crisis intervention techniques and community resource networks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and non-judgmentally with diverse populations
  • Willingness to participate in training, supervision, and ongoing professional development
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and on-call responsibilities as needed
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
