Warrior Down – Certified Recovery Coaches

Home Warrior Down / Recovery Coaching April 1-3, 2025 By Jennifer CadottePublic Relations Specialistpublicrelations@lco-nsn-gov The Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) Tribal Nations Opioid Abatement Efforts (TNOAE) program has partnered with the White Bison Wellbriety Movement to bring the Warrior Down training program to the LCO Community. The phrase “Warrior Down” signifies a warrior who has been wounded or incapacitated and requires help. The program establishes a dedicated response team that supports individuals in their recovery journey, ensuring they have access to the resources and community connections necessary to continue their healing process.  Warrior Down Facilitator, Mateo Littlebird, who is Pueblo of Laguna/Pueblo of Kewa draws inspiration from his time working in the non-profit sector where he found inspiration in the stories of individuals who had lost everything and fought their way back to becoming a person they never dreamed of. These experiences drive his desire to bring equality of opportunity to our community regardless of past mistakes, status, or circumstance. Staff members from the LCO Men’s Sober Living Facility, Emergency Shelter, and Bizhiki Wellness Center participated in this comprehensive training to become Certified Recovery Coaches. This certification will enhance their ability to serve as leaders in recovery support within the LCO community.    Rebecca Williams, Director of the LCO TNOAE program, emphasized the importance of the training: “The goal of this training is to create a response team that will support and provide resources for our sober living program participants as they progress through their recovery.  We extend our sincere gratitude to the LCO Tribal Governing Board, TNOAE, and Project Ventures for their generous contributions of gifts in appreciation for our guests’s time and effort in sharing his valuable knowledge with us. . Home FALCON Community Event 3/25/2025 By Jennifer CadottePublic Relations Specialistpublicrelations@lco-nsn-gov The Fentanyl Awareness for the Lac Courte Oreilles Nation (FALCON) initiative seeks to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl-laced substances. With overdose deaths escalating at alarming rates, many are unknowingly consuming fentanyl through illegal drugs and counterfeit prescription pills. Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board (LCO TGB) Secretary/Treasurer Bill Trepanier expressed, “I wanted to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid abuse. During my time working with the court, I witnessed too many of our people impacted by this crisis, and now I am in a position to make a difference.” Founded in 2024 by Trepanier and Ben Tran, Founder and Creative Director of the award-winning consulting firm Tran Creative., FALCON’s initial efforts focused on raising awareness. They bnegan by conducting over 100 interviews at the Honor the Earth Homecoming Celebration Pow Wow, producing powerful messages about the dangers of opioids. The project is expanding. The Nenaginawaad Board has joined forces with FALCON. This board is focused on drug threat response and is working to update LCO’s 2025 Action Plan. On March 25, 2025, FALCON and Nenaginawaad hosted a community event attended by over 200 members. The event provided a safe space for individuals to share their experiences with opioid addiction, whether personally affected or thorugh loved ones, and marked the beginning of a collective healing process.  While progress has been made, more work is underway. Plans for additional events are in development, and FALCON, alongside the Nenaginawaad Board, extends its gratitude to all participants and service providers available at this event for standing in soloidarity. We hope to see these events grow and invite others to join in future efforts. Further details will be shared as plans are finalized.  For more information about the FALCON initiative, visit falconlco.com Here Are Some Highlights From the Event [masterslider id=”1″] Back To All News
