Position Summary

The Conservation Warden enforces Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Conservation Codes across land and water resources within the reservation boundaries, ensuring protection of natural resources and public safety.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Tribal hunting, fishing, and conservation laws
  • Issue permits, citations, and conduct investigations
  • Patrol land and water areas and maintain records
  • Testify in court and assist in enforcement actions
  • Respond to emergencies and support law enforcement
  • Conduct public education and community outreach
  • Monitor campsites and enforce animal control ordinances

Minimum Qualifications

  • Wisconsin Law Enforcement certification (or ability to obtain)
  • High school diploma/GED plus college credits or degree
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • No felony convictions
  • Strong understanding of law enforcement procedures
  • Ability to preform physical and field duties in varying conditions
  • Background investigation, psychological assessment, and drug screening required
  • Must be willing to relocate within 60 days if necessary
