We, the Anishinabeg, the people of Odaawaa-Zaaga’iganiing, the Lac Courte Oreilles Band, will sustain our heritage, preserving our past, strengthening our present, and embracing our future. We will defend our inherent sovereign rights and safeguard Mother Earth. We will provide for the educational, health, social welfare, and economic stability of the present and future generations.
The Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (W.I.O.A) program offers short-term services to Native Americans who are economically disadvantaged, unemployed, and meet income guidelines.
Services include, but are not limited to:
Assist participants to improve: their social welfare, promote and encourage gainful employment, educational and economic development, self sufficiency, and recognize and re-establish cultural and traditional values of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe.
With the unemployment rate at 66% for our local Native American population, it is essential that the Tribe present an alternative. The Tribal Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act Program assists in the reduction of unemployment.
Below is a short list that will qualify participants in joining W.I.O.A
The purpose of having a youth component is to assist youth in the reduction of dropping out of school, and to work on gaining their required credits to obtain a HSED/GED.
