Position Summary

The Language & Culture Division Program Manager works closely with the Division Director to plan and implement Ojibwe language and cultural programming that enhances the physical, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being of the Lac Courte Oreilles community.

This position provides technical writing, research, and planning support to Tribal leadership while assisting in the delivery of community-based programming aligned with Division initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Administrative Support

  • Manage office operations and clerical functions for the Division
  • Coordinate vendors, materials, and project resources
  • Assist with fiscal tracking and budget development
  • Organize advisory board meetings

Planning & Community Engagement

  • Support development of strategic plans for language and culture programming
  • Collaborate with Tribal departments and community partners
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate programming ( including evenings/weekends)
  • Design and administer community surveys

Research & Reporting

  • Conduct research, data collection, and analysis
  • Prepare reports, newsletters, and public-facing materials
  • Support Tribal strategic planning efforts
  • Assist with presentations and public meetings

Leadership & Coordination

  • Advise leadership on funding opportunities and partnerships
  • Train and co-supervise staff and interns
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred (Education, Native American Studies, or related field)
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of Ojibwe language and culture based experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken Ojibwemowin and strong writing proficiency
  • Experience managing complex project budgets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
