Position Summary

The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Government is seeking a Compliance Specialist — Trainee to support grant management and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements.

This is an entry-level position with training provided. The role focuses on financial monitoring, reporting, and supporting program staff to ensure all grant activities meet regulatory and funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain organized, audit-ready records for all grants and contracts
  • Review applications budgets, and financial transactions for compliance
  • Monitor revenue and expenditure reports to track grant spending
  • Identify discrepancies and support timely reporting to finding agengies
  • Prepare financial reports and required documentation
  • Process transactions in MICROIX (accounts payable, requisitions, travel)
  • Provide technical assistance to program directors on budget development
  • Complete required grant certification training
  • Cross-train in all areas of grant compliance and financial management
  • Perform additional duties to support Compliance Department operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of accounting principles (bookkeeping or financial experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel for training and certification requirements
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to pass background check and pre-employment screening
