The National Indian Education Association (NIEA) with support from the Henry Luce Foundation, announce the Emerging Native Language Leadership Fellowship.
 

This fellowship is an incredible opportunity for emerging Native language leaders to build connections, gain professional development, and contribute to the revitalization of Native languages.

What Fellows Receive:

  • A laptop for virtual meetings
  • One-year membership to NIEA
  • Fully sponsored travel to an in-person fellowship session and NIEA convention
  • $7,500 upon completion of the fellowship
 
 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Ages 18–30
  • American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian (documentation required)
  • Currently working in Native language within a tribe, organization, or school
 

Important Dates:

  • Application Deadline: May 30, 2025
  • Fellowship Year: June 2025 to May 2026
 
 

This fellowship offers fellows the chance to meet with veteran Native language leaders, gain mentorship, and work together on important leadership and revitalization projects. Fellows will also form a peer support group, helping to foster long-lasting professional connections.
