LAC COURTE OREILLES – The LCO Tribal Governing Board is proud to announce the selection of its inaugural Director of Administration position, Louis Bird Traverzo.   

 

The creation of the Administration Division is just one of many divisions to come from the Tribal Governing Board’s Tribal Services Assessment to provide a level of increased support and advocation to the departments and our employees.  Additional Directors and their Division components will be announced in the near future.  

 

Louis is an enrolled LCO tribal member and the oldest son of former LCO Nurse, Sandy Bird.  Louis comes to the position with military experience as he served in the US Army for 27 years, retiring while achieving the rank of Colonel.

 

He subsequently served with the federal government as Federal Security Director for the State of Wisconsin, Transportation Security Administration, and his service culminated at the level of Senior Executive Service. 

 

He is a graduate of St Norbert College and has a master’s degree from Shippensburg University and is also graduate of the US Army War College.   

 

He is married to Sandra, and they have two sons, both in NC, Derrick, an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, and Daniel, a Head & Neck Surgeon (Otolaryngology).  

 

Serving in the role as the Administration Division Director, Louis will oversee the following departments within the Tribal Administration: Human Resources, Information Technology, Grants and Planning, Compliance, Accounting, Enrollment, Maintenance, Tribal Regulatory Services, Public Relations, and Veteran Services.
