Speech and Language Clinician
*Tribal preference will apply to qualified applicants in accordance with the Lac Courte Oreilles Policies & Procedures Manual, consistent with federal Indian preference requirements.
The Speech and Language Clinician provides direct therapy, consultation, and inclusion services to students in grades K-12n who receive speech and language support services. This position works closely with students, families, teachers, and special education staff to assess communication needs, develop individualized services, and support academic success. The clinician plays a key role in special education programming through case management, evaluations, IEP development, and progress monitoring while incorporating culturally relevant practices and Ojibwe cultural concepts into services whenever appropriate.
- Provide direct speech and language therapy, consultation services to students in grades K-12
- Serve as case manager for students receiving speech and language services
- Conduct initial evaluations and reevaluations for students with speech and language needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and services using data-driven approach
- Lead and participate in IEP meetings while coordinating with families and educational teams
- Administer, score, and interpret speech and language assessments and prepare evaluation reports
- Coordinate and schedule speech services while maintaining student records, progress reports, and required documentation
- Collaborate with parents, special education staff, regular education teachers, and support personnel to promote student success
- Participate in school activities, field trips, assemblies, powwows, student programs, and graduation ceremonies as assigned
- Wisconsin Speech and Language Clinician license or certification
- ASHA Certificate Competence (CCC) preferred for compensation purposes
- Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and student assessment practices
- Experience working with Native American youth preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively use technology and student information systems
