Pardon & Forgiveness Screening Committee Member
*Tribal preference will apply to qualified applicants in accordance with the Lac Courte Oreilles Policies & Procedures Manual, consistent with federal Indian preference requirements.
The Pardon and Forgiveness Screening Committee assists the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Giverning Board reviewing pardon and forgiveness applications and providing formal recommendations regarding eligibility and consideration. Committee members help ensure applications are reviewed fairly, thoroughly, and in accordance with Tribal policies and procedures. Members serve as part of a seven-member committee and participate in hearings, application reviews, and committee proceedings.
- Review and process pardon and forgiveness applications in an orderly and timely manner
- Review applicant background investigation reports provided through the Human Resources Department
- Participate in and preside over pardon and forgiveness hearings
- Develop and follow internal operating procedures for committee activities
- Prepare formal written recommendations for approval or denial of applications and submit applications to the Tribal Governing Board
- Carry out additional responsibilities related to the purpose and duties of the Committee
- Must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Tribe
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a High School Diploma, GED, or higher education degree
- Must have no felony convictions unless pardoned
- Must have no history of fraud or misrepresentation offenses unless pardoned
- Must not be an elected Tribal official
- Must agree to comply with an approved code of ethics
- Must successfully complete a background investigation and cooperate with fingerprinting requirements
