Medicare Advantage Plans: Be Careful When Choosing a Plan
During Medicare enrollment periods, you may receive a lot of phone calls, texts, emails, and mail encouraging you to sign up for a Medicare Advantage Plan. Take your time and don’t feel pressured to make a decision.
Before enrolling in any plan, be sure to check that your doctors, specialists, preferred hospital, and clinic are in the plan’s network. A plan may sound like a great deal, but if your current providers or clinic are out of network, you could have higher costs or have difficulty receiving care from the providers you know and trust.
Always verify the plan’s network directly with the insurance company and your provider or clinic before enrolling. Don’t rely solely on what a caller, text message, or advertisement tells you.
Don’t feel pressured to enroll—it’s okay to stay with Original Medicare.
