Conservation Game Warden – Recruit
*Tribal preference will apply to qualified applicants in accordance with the Lac Courte Oreilles Policies & Procedures Manual, consistent with federal Indian preference requirements.
The Conservation Game Warden – Recruit assists in protecting Tribal natural resources through the enforcement of hunting, fishing, trapping, and conservation regulations. This position patrols Tribal lands and waters, investigates violations, supports public safety efforts, and conservation education throughout the community.
- Patrol Tribal lands and water to enforce conservation regulations
- Monitor hunting and fishing activity and maintain required reports
- Issue permits, conduct investigations, and prepare enforcement documentation
- Respond to emergencies and assist law enforcement agencies as needed
- Testify in Tribal Court regarding citations and investigations
- Conduct public education and conservation outreach activities
- Investigate animal control and wildlife-related complaints
- Support maintenance and monitoring of Tribal campsites and conservation areas
- Wisconsin Law Enforcement certified or willing to complete an approved police academy
- High school diploma/GED and an Associate degree or 60 college credits
- Strong communication, report writing, and organizational skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- No felony convictions
- Valid driver’s license and insurable under Tribal insurance
- Must pass medical, psychological, drug, and background screening requirements
