Position Summary

The Ojibwe Language Medium Classroom Lead Teacher serves as a key instructional leader within the immersion education program at Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Immersion School. Lead Teachers support student achievement through high-quality instruction grounded in Ojibwe language, culture, and Anishinaabe values. This position is responsible for creating engaging learning experiences, monitoring student growth, and helping foster a strong educational environment that supports language revitalization and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create engaging classroom experiences that encourage active student participation and achievement
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Deliver instruction for assigned core academic subjects
  • Evaluate student performance and document academic progress on an ongoing basis
  • Develop instructional materials and differentiated learning activities to meet diverse student needs
  • Monitor and supervise students throughout the school day and during school activities
  • Implement research-based instructional practices that improve student achievement
  • Refer students for additional services and supports when appropriate

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the Ojibwe language and willingness to continue developing language skills
  • Wisconsin DPI teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification within one year
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to use technology effectively in the classroom
  • Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Institute
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred
  • Experience teaching Native American youth preferred
