Job Summary
The Economic Development Director leads strategic economic development initiatives for the Tribe, working closely with the Board to analyze business opportunities, conduct feasibility assessments, prepare budgets and business plans, and oversee enterprise managers. This role is responsible for project management, contract negotiations, and building partnerships to drive sustainable economic growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement economic development strategies and projects
- Analyze business proposals and perform financial feasibility assessments
- Oversee enterprise managers and ensure compliance with Tribal Law
- Prepare project budgets, business plans, and status reports
- Secure funding through grants and other resources
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Build relationships with investors, government agencies, and community partners
- Advocate for policies supporting economic growth
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness
Qualifications
- Proven experience in economic or community development
- Strong financial analysis, project management, and communication skills
- Experience securing grants and funding
- Knowledge of relevant laws and sensitivity to Native American culture
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Skills
- Experience in sales, marketing, public relations, or finance
- Familiarity with economic impact analyses and grant applications
- Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders
