Two Nurse Practioners to Join Team at LCO CHC

The Lac Courte Oreilles Community Health Center (LCO CHC) is pleased to announce the addition of two highly skilled nurse practitioners to its healthcare team.

John Hernandez, DNP, and Jennie “Tess” Jahn, FNP, will begin their work in September and October 2025, respectively. Their expertise and dedication to patient care will further enhance the high-quality services provided to the LCO community.

Meet John Hernandex, DNP:

John Hernandez, DNP, a father of two and retired Navy veteran, brings a diverse background and extensive expertise to his role as a Family Nurse Practitioner to deliver a broad scope of primary care services, including joint injections, dermatological procedures, and behavioral health care.

John began his career as a head chef before serving in the Navy working on FA-18 fighter aircraft.
John majored in biology and chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and was a biochemistry research assistant at the Institute for Drug Discovery before finishing his Master of Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice.

Now a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, John has developed practical skills over his career that allow him to uniquely translate science and evidence into meaningful health outcomes for his patients.

John’s rich life experiences and professional journey through the culinary and military fields have shaped his empathetic approach to patient care. John looks forward to joining the Lac Courte Oreilles Community Health Center mid October 2025.

Meet Jennie “Tess” Jahn, FNP:
“Raised on a sunny family farm in Utah, I learned early the beauty of hard work, kindness, and faith. Recently, I followed my love of simple, intentional living all the way to  Wisconsin — where I’m happily homesteading, grid-adjacent, with dreams as wide as the open fields I now call home. I am very fond of my husband, my two grown children, and my extended family. To be more accurate, I am completely devoted to them. I also enjoy reading, watching movies, and participating in and watching sports.

After an 18-year career as a registered nurse, I am now broadening my expertise as a Nurse Practitioner, with a consistent focus on individual well-being.

My professional interests are broad, as I find genuine satisfaction in interacting with diverse individuals, appreciating the unique qualities each person brings.

My areas of expertise include hands-on wound care, direct patient interaction, the care of individuals on the autism spectrum across the lifespan, providing practical health education, applying critical thinking skills, and maintaining traditional values and methods while also incorporating innovative concepts.

I am honored to serve the Lac Courte Oreilles Community. I will be starting at the end of September 2025.
