The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board (LCO TGB) submitted feedback to the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) regarding the federal administration’s proposed school voucher system. The LCO TGB raised three concerns: insufficient funding for families to access alternative education, existing eligibility through the state’s open enrollment program, and limited educational options in the rural area. The local public school cannot accomodate the number of students served by the tribally controlled BIE school.
