As part of Elder Advocacy, we are hosting a “Get Out the Vote” event called Meet the Candidates on Friday, March 7 from 11am-2pm. Every election gives you a chance to be heard! The next election is April 1st and here is what is on the 2025 ballot for Sawyer County residents:
- State Supreme Court Judge
- State Superintendent of Public Instruction
- City and Town Boards
- The St. Croix River Group would like to work with the tribe to teach about environmental issues impacting our water.
Candidates are invited to come to the LCO Elder Center to meet community members. Please join us! We will be holding drawings for door prizes. (Donations for prizes will be accepted!)
This spring we will have an Intern with us from the LCO University, Mr. Robert Jacobs, who will be assisting with the Tribal Elder Needs Assessment. This is very important and your opinions are needed for developing the next three-year Title VI Aging Plan for services we offer under the Older Americans Act.
Angela Beckman will begin employment with LCO as the Dementia Care Specialist on March 10. She will be joining the team and getting trained in the new DHS reporting system and training with the Office of Resource Center Development. Angela’s educational background and specialty is Nutrition, Dementia and Gerontology.
We are getting staff trained so that we may continue to offer the Elder Stockbox Program. We are required to post the designated distribution time at our site, but we will also post it on our Facebook page for future reference. To be elibigle for the Stockbox program, clients must:
- Be a Wisconsin resident
